Rudy Skowronski, Phil DeVeau, Jen West, and Deb Dana joined together around a shared vision to form Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC. Our late colleague instilled in us the belief that “healing happens in relationship” and IITR offers a place of safety where healing relationships are created.
Deb Dana has left Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC in order to pursue writing and conduct trainings internationally. She remains a trusted colleague and friend and we wish her well.

Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC is a small group practice created around a shared philosophy for working with complex trauma. We practice from a mutual understanding of neuroscience and of the interweaving of mind and body.
Our belief is that the mind-body connection is integral in healing from traumatic stress. We use an integrated approach that supports restoration of a sense of safety and trust in bodies, in daily experiences, and in relationships.
In addition to our clinical work, we have a commitment to ongoing discovery of the ways our minds and bodies hold traumatic response and to creating a community of trauma sensitive practitioners. Throughout the year we offer Master Classes in Neuroscience with nationally known experts, specialty day long trainings focusing on new applications of mind-body practice, and our own workshops based on our individual areas of inquiry.
We are currently accepting new clients with MaineCare and sliding scale private pay.
