Phil DeVeau is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a founding member and developer of the Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC in Saco, ME. Phil has been in the social work field since 1995; beginning his career working with individuals with chronic and persistent mental health needs. Phil then worked for the State of Maine’s Bureau of Child and Family Services in Child Welfare. Phil began his clinical work at The Partnership for Health, Healing and Community in 2005 and 3 years later co-developed and founded The Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC.
Phil specializes in the treatment of individuals who have experienced single incident and complex trauma, as well as, treating and assessing individuals with problematic sexual behaviors. Intrafamilial sexual abuse treatment is a large part of the work Phil and his colleagues at Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC continue to perform and develop. This work includes, problematic sexual behavior assessment, individual and family therapy and the SAFE-R group, which is a psychoeducational/support group for non-offending caregivers and individuals impacted by Intrafamilial sexual abuse.
Phil is a graduate of University of Southern Maine’s undergraduate Social Work program and University of New England’s Graduate Social Work Program.
