Phil DeVeau is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a founding member and developer of the Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC in Saco, ME.

Phil specializes in the treatment of individuals who have experienced single incident and complex trauma, utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, including EMDR, Attachment theory and Affect Regulation based models.

Phil also specializes in the treatment and assessment of individuals with problematic sexual behaviors, while also providing treatment and psychoeducation to the survivors of sexual abuse and affected others (friends, family and community members).  Phil and his colleagues at Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC continue to perform and develop individual and group treatment settings including the SAFE-R program, a psychoeducational/support group for non-offending caregivers and individuals impacted by Intrafamilial sexual abuse.

Phil has been in the social work field since 1995, beginning his career working with individuals with chronic and persistent mental health needs. Phil then worked for the State of Maine’s Bureau of Child and Family Services with a focus on working with adolescents and their family’s who were involved with Child Protective Services and the Juvenile Corrections System.  This included participation in the inter-disciplinary development of the Cumberald County Juvenile Drug Court, as well as serving as the Bureau’s liason with the Violence Intervention Program.

Phil began his clinical work at The Partnership for Health, Healing and Community in 2005 and 3 years later co-developed and founded The Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC.

Phil is a graduate of University of Southern Maine’s undergraduate Social Work program and University of New England’s Graduate Social Work Program.  Phil is a clincial member of ATSA (Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers) and was the recipient of the Health Affiliates of Maine 2013 Professional Excellence Award.
