She has worked as an advocate, group facilitator, and individual therapist across a range of settings, including medical, mental health, education, and nonprofit organizations. As a graduate student, she trained at Mercy Hospital’s McAuley Residence and the Island Institute for Trauma Recovery, LLC, with a focus on complex trauma, gender and sexuality, substance abuse, families, and social justice.
In her current practice at the Island Institute, she integrates creativity, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and narrative practice to create a safe space for clients to process traumas and patterns in their minds and bodies, and work towards healing and growth. Abigail is trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and other trauma-focused modalities.
